Nvidia Unveils GeForce RTX SUPER GPUs, Revolutionizing Generative AI on PCs at CES 2024

Nvidia Unveils GeForce RTX SUPER GPUs at CES 2024

Nvidia revealed its latest AI hardware, the GeForce RTX SUPER GPU, promising heightened generative AI capabilities for laptops and PCs at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Empowering Generative AI on PCs

The RTX SUPER GPUs aim to elevate generative AI experiences on PCs, boasting support for Nvidia TensorRT acceleration, particularly for the widely-used Stable Diffusion XL model for text-to-image workflows. These chips also endorse Nvidia RTX Remix, enabling AI-driven texture tools, alongside Nvidia ACE microservices for games using Deep Learning Super Sampling technology to deliver higher-resolution frames.

Enhanced AI Performance

The GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series for laptops and workstations includes models like the RTX 4080 SUPER and 4070 Ti SUPER, promising top-notch AI performance. The 4080 SUPER delivers 1.5 times faster AI video and 1.7 times faster image processing compared to the RTX 3080 Ti. With Tensor Cores capable of 836 trillion operations per second, these GPUs bring generative AI capabilities to gaming, creative work, and everyday tasks.

AI Expansion and Accessibility

Nvidia's RTX chips not only bolster generative AI models within the Nvidia TensorRT-LLM open-source library but also introduce pre-optimized versions of popular large language models for PCs. This includes the Chat with RTX model, facilitating easier access and interaction with content for AI developers.

Wide-reaching Impact

CEO Jensen Huang emphasized the significance of running generative AI locally on PCs for privacy, latency, and cost-sensitive workloads. Nvidia boasts an installed base of over 100 million RTX AI PCs and workstations, setting the stage for developers and gamers to delve into the world of generative AI.

Industry Collaboration and Launch Plans

Partnering with major PC makers, Nvidia plans to introduce new RTX AI laptops in the coming weeks and months, including Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, MSI, and Razer. The RTX chips are set to ship to customers later this month.

AI Software and Development

Every new A800 40GB Active RTX GPU PC and laptop will include a three-year license for Nvidia AI Enterprise. Additionally, Nvidia introduced the Nvidia AI Workbench, a beta platform empowering developers to create, test, and customize generative AI models and LLMs, tapping into repositories like Hugging Face, GitHub, and Nvidia NGC.

New PC Experiences and Applications

Nvidia's collaboration with PC hardware partners resulted in applications like Nvidia RTX Remix, enabling remasters of classic games in 4K resolution via generative AI. Nvidia ACE microservices offer AI-driven speech and animation models for dynamic digital avatars in games. TensorRT acceleration enhances performance for specific models by up to 60%, while Nvidia DLSS 3 supports frame generation, boosting frame rates in upcoming titles like “Horizon Forbidden West,” “Pax Dei,” and “Dragon’s Dogma 2” by up to four times compared to native rendering.
