Midjourney, a prominent AI image-generation service boasting over 17.5 million users within its Discord server, has initiated alpha testing for its standalone website, promising a direct platform for generating imagery, departing from its traditional reliance on Discord.

The revelation of the Midjourney Alpha website featuring an AI image generation interface emerged recently, eliciting excitement among dedicated users such as Nick St. Pierre (@NickFloats), who swiftly shared glimpses of the platform through screenshots and videos.

Confirming the news, Midjourney's official Discord announcements channel affirmed the commencement of alpha testing on the website, emphasizing its exclusive access for individuals with a substantial track record—those who've generated over 10,000 images via Midjourney on Discord.

However, Midjourney's CEO, David Holz, assured users of an inclusive approach in the near future, stating, "Don’t worry, we will be making it available to more people over the coming month!"

While Midjourney has long been recognized for its robust text-to-image capabilities, accessible solely through Discord, this leap to an independent website signals a more user-friendly and streamlined experience for image creation.

Holz clarified that initial access to the website relies on the prolific usage of Midjourney on Discord, urging users to check their image generation count by typing /info in their Midjourney Discord channel for eligibility.
